911 Headset Hero - Kaitlyn Girgen

On June 19, 2025, Dispatcher Kaitlyn Girgen took a call for an 87-year-old female who was unresponsive and not breathing. Kaitlyn was able to initiate CPR within 1 minute and 13 seconds of answering the call and less than 2 minutes later the patient regained a pulse and began breathing. By the time other first responders arrived, the patient was able to communicate with paramedics. Thanks to Dispatcher Girgen's fast action, calm demeanor and command of the situation, the patient was able to make a full recovery and was eventually discharged from the hospital.

Today, in honor of her phenomenal performance that day, Kaitlyn was presented with a CPR Lifesaver Award by Executive Director Nick Erskine.

Congratulations, Kaitlyn! You are a true credit to the mission of Sweetwater Combined Communications! Thank you for your service to the community! We are very proud of you!
