DAILY BRIEFING:
As everyone is aware, last night we received notification from the state of our first confirmed positive COVID-19 case here in Sweetwater County. As of the time of this release, there are currently 44 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Wyoming: Albany – 1; Campbell – 1; Carbon – 3; Fremont – 13; Laramie (Cheyenne) – 11; Natrona – 4; Park – 1; Sheridan – 4; Sweetwater – 1; and, Teton – 5.
Here’s the latest information about the county’s first confirmed COVID-19 patient: An adult male in his 40s, who resides in Green River; he was not at work while symptomatic (i.e., fell ill and stayed home from work at least two days before testing); he self-quarantined at home as instructed after testing; his immediate household is currently in quarantine at home as precaution; he is currently experiencing mild symptoms that he can treat from home; and, state health officials are conducting their contract trace investigation.
Today, we also hosted and streamed live on Sweetwater County Government’s YouTube Channel a press briefing for local media and the public. We featured Sweetwater County Public Health Director Kim Lionberger, Sweetwater County Public Health Officer Dr. Jean Stachon and Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County Incident Commander Kim White during the briefing. The Sweetwater County COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center’s primary objective is to continue to work together with all public health and our local medical community to contain the spread of COVID-19 in our county, and our goal remains to keep the number of confirmed positive cases in Sweetwater County as close to zero as possible.
